Zulfi Bukhari says PTI and army are still on the same page

During a press conference in London on Saturday, Zulfi Bukhari, chief executive officer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said that his party continues to be in close touch with the military.

Bukhari said, during a media interview in the British capital, that keeping the PTI out of the elections will not help bring the country to a place of stability in terms of politics and economics.

There has been a reiteration of the call for a level playing field in the upcoming elections – slated for February 8, 2024 – and for election campaigns in the days leading up to them. Former PTI chairman Imran Khan and several other PTI members have made the same call.

The elections will not be held until the PTI is completely ready to hold the elections, according to PTI president Asad Bukhari, who added that the party would not accept the elections if they were to be held in “certain circumstances”.

According to the PTI leader, he has decided that the party will field candidates from all constituencies in the upcoming elections ahead of the polls. It is further stated by Bukhari that the PTI, as well as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), wanted to hold discussions with all parties, including the PML-N.

There have been reports that a former cabinet minister is likely to travel to Pakistan and face a reference against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) relating to the £190 million settlement case.

As a result of the caretaker government’s request to Interpol for Zulfi’s arrest, it is unlikely that Zulfi will be traveling to Pakistan anytime soon. After Interpol requested his arrest, he left the U.A.E. and has not traveled outside of London since then. At the time of the Interpol request, he was in Dubai.

For the upcoming general election in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe, Bukhari also kicked off a national mobilization and fundraising campaign earlier this week, which will see him mobilizing and raising funds for the party.

Regardless of what the cost may be, we will take part in the elections. As a result, we need the support of the overseas regions in terms of funds and efforts. As well as funds for the party’s legal challenges, the party also needs funds for the election campaign,” he had said in the past.
