Prime minister of Pakistan 2024, In a 201 vote vote in the National Assembly, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif became Pakistan’s 24th prime minister after taking over the premiership for the second time.

Despite protests from members of the Socialist Insurgent Council, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq announced that Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had won the election with 201 votes. He was followed by Omar Ayub Khan who received 92 votes.

As a result, the speaker asked Shehbaz to sit in the prime minister’s chair and address the house as the only politician elected for the second consecutive time.

With seven other parties supporting Shehbaz besides the PML-N, his victory was expected. Awami Party (BAP), Pakistan Muslim League-Zia (PML-Z), Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) and National Party (NP) support the PM-elect. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Zia (P

After accepting the PML-N supreme’s nomination, Shehbaz thanked Nawaz Sharif for nominating him and expressed gratitude to his allies for supporting him in his first prime minister’s address.

In his address, the prime minister-designate recalled the country’s turbulent political history and praised Benazir Bhutto, who paid the ultimate price for democracy by committing the “judicial murder” of PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Taking a swipe at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) without naming any names, Shehbaz accused the party of hounding the then-opposition and committing serious allegations against the military.

“This is what makes the [two] leaderships different. In fact, the House has never even contemplated the possibility of vengeance politics by the [PML-N].

As he recalled the May 9 riots that were triggered following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan in a graft case last year, he said, “It is very sad that the nation had to watch [state] institutions such as GHQ and Corps Commander Houses being attacked.”

To change the country’s destiny and overcome the challenges, Shehbaz said people from all walks of life need to come together in order to steer the country out of the current crises.

As he spoke of the country’s economic crisis, PML-N leader said that of the Rs12,300 billion generated by the country, Rs7,300 billion went to provinces through the NFC award, while the government faces a deficit of Rs7,000 billion because of services charges worth up to Rs8,000 billion.

How will the money for the education, health, and development sectors be raised? “Where are the salaries of government employees working for the armed forces going to come from? ”

“This is the biggest challenge facing the country today,” he said. “All of this has been funded by loans throughout the years.”

It’s a bottomless pit

Shehbaz complained about exuberant electricity bills, claiming that Rs23,000 billion worth of circular debt (electricity) has been incurred but only Rs28,000 worth of recovery has been made.

Approximately $3.5 billion is missing, or Rs1,000 billion. What are the chances of this nation affording careless governance? ”

The annual theft of electricity amounts to around Rs500 to 600 billion, he said, calling it a ‘bottomless pit’.

As a result of the import of expensive LNG, theft, and problems with the distribution system, the circular debt of the gas sector has reached a staggering Rs29,000 billion, he added.

A total of Rs600 billion has been lost by state-owned enterprises […] the PIA [alone] is in debt to the tune of Rs800 billion,” he said.

Shehbaz said his government would provide subsidies to farmers and introduce solar tube wells in the agriculture sector, which he claimed was the economic backbone.

As he affirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the National Action Plan, he said those responsible for the May 9 [riots] would be brought to justice.

Several draconian and outdated laws and regulations will be abolished, and the government will work with the provinces to establish a comprehensive network of export zones to stimulate businesses.

Our goal is to become a member of the G20 by 2030.

When addressing gender-based discrimination in society, he said that women should receive equal pay to men.

He announced that the government would ensure the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is held accountable if it fails to make tax refunds within ten days if banks do not allocate loans to the young generation.

According to Shehbaz, Pakistan will not join some “great game” as part of its foreign policy.

As far as the neighbouring countries are concerned, the government will maintain cordial relations based on equality.

The Pakistani government will also introduce visa-free entry for citizens of brotherly countries.

He invited the opposition to work with him in addressing the challenges facing the country, by offering an olive branch to the opposition.

Election of the PM

As part of the session, PML-N’s Jam Kamal took his oath as a member of parliament under the leadership of NA Speaker Sadiq.

It was not long before the House became awash with slogans and chants from SIC members in support of Imran Khan, incarcerated PTI founder, and Shehbaz Sharif, alliance supporter.

A five-minute bell ringing ceremony was then requested by Speaker Sadiq to allow any members not present in the house to attend the elections for prime minister.

The NA staff was ordered to lock the doors after the bells rang, and the method of electing Prime Minister Sadiq was announced.

A list of candidates for the prime minister’s elections was then presented to the lawmakers by the speaker.

It is suggested that Shehbaz Sharif and Omar Ayub be nominated as valid candidates. I invite members to proceed to lobby A on the right side of the room if they wish to vote in favor of Shehbaz” said the speaker.

For those who wish to vote for Ayub, the speaker directed them to take their ballots to “Lobby B”.

In line with their decision to boycott the elections for president, prime minister, and other constitutional positions, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl walked out of the House as voting began.

During voting, Sardar Akhtar Mengal of the Balochistan National Party did not cast his vote.

A record of the votes cast in the elections will be provided to the speaker by the NA secretary following the conclusion of the voting process.

In order to announce the results of the election, once the counting was complete, the speaker directed the NA staff to ring the bell in the House for the lawmakers to return in order to announce the results.

Kakar is to welcome Shehbaz at the PM House

Incoming premier will be welcomed at the Prime Minister’s House by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, according to official sources.

In the Minister’s Enclave, he has been assigned a house to live in.

There was also a period of 200 days during which Kakar remained the caretaker PM, which was the longest ever. Muhammad Mian Soomro had previously held the record of being the caretaker PM from March 25, 2013 to June 4, 2013, which was set by Muhammad Mian Soomro.

On Monday, Governor Milne will be formally welcomed into the PM House for the first time after he was elected as the leader of the National Assembly a day after being elected as the new chief executive of the country.

The new prime minister will be welcomed on Monday after a spell of rain with a guard of honour and arrangements are being made for the presentation to be made in view of the predicted clear weather after a period of rain.

Shehbaz called a Form 47 product by Omar

The PTI-backed SIC lawmaker Omar Ayub Khan has called Shehbaz Sharif, the PM-elect, a “product” of Form 47 in his address to the National Assembly after losing the election of the coveted post of prime minister.

It has been seen that the PTI has characterized the February 8 general elections as “rigged” and have claimed that, although their mandate had been stolen and their results had been altered in Form 47s, they had won the elections on February 8 as per form 45 results.
