WCL unbeaten Pakistan defeats India by 68 runs, At Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham, in the eight match of the World Championship of Legends 2024, Pakistan won the eight match by 68 runs, which was a major achievement for Pakistan in the cricketing world.
There were three wins in a row for Younis Khan’s men in the six-team competition this season, which means they sit top of the points table after their third win. There have been previous victories over Australia and the West Indies for them.
Earlier on in the day, Pakistan scored a massive 243/4 when they were put into bat. As soon as Sharjeel Khan and Kamran Akmal made their way onto the pitch, the Men in Green were well on their way to a blistering start.
After 145 runs were added by the duo for the first wicket, Sharjeel retired in the 11th over after scoring 34 runs.
Using a combination of seven fours and five sixes, Sharjeel made a 30-ball 72 in just 30 minutes. It was similarly Kamran’s turn to continue the aggressive approach, scoring a 40-ball 77 before he was bowled by Pawan Negi in the 14th over for the loss of his wicket.
The powerful 26-ball 51 by Sohaib Maqsood rubbed Maqsood’s shoulders into the middle thanks to his powerful batting. The number of sixes he hit and the number of fours he hit was five.
In the first innings of the match, Shahid Afridi went for a golden duck, while Shoaib Malik remained unbeaten on 18 balls.
With Robin Uthappa scoring a 22 off 12 balls, India put a strong response at the beginning of the chase. Pakistan’s first wicket came as a result of the removal of Sohail Khan.
In the second innings, Ambati Rayadu and Suresh Raina teamed up to trouble India, but Shoaib Malik put India’s hopes at stake by beating Rayadu (39) to put them under intense pressure.
Malik was able to keep the run rate under control despite India’s inability to accelerate. The attack was led by Wahab Riaz who removed Irfan Pathan (15) in one over along with Pawan Negi (1) to add a further dent to their score.
During the 19th over, Raina fought a lone battle against Sohail Tanvir before he was bowled by him. On the basis of 40 balls, he made 52 runs for the left-hander.
The Indian team managed to score 175/9 in their 20 overs with Anureet Singh contributing the most with an impressive 20 off 14 deliveries.
As a result, Malik had three wickets taken for 38 while Wahab ended the match with three wickets for 22.
During the World Championship of Legends 2024, a live stream of the matches will be broadcast on Geo Super as they happen.
