A new season of Emily in Paris will be released in two parts, the first five episodes of which you can view now, and the next five available on September 12.
Lily Collins, who plays Emily in the show, admitted that the new format had a major impact on how she and the rest of the cast approached their performances this season.
As a result of the show’s production schedule, some episodes had to be filmed out of order, which was due to the fact that it was filmed during the third season of the year for the first time, thereby affecting the show’s filming schedule.
In an interview with Deadline, Collins revealed to the publication that it was a new experience for the team at Emily in Paris to film some episodes out of sequence due to the unusual winter filming schedule.
We had a chance to go into the mountains, and we wanted to make sure that we were able to get the best snowfall to ensure that the episodes were shot properly. Therefore, we ended up filming episodes which are in the second drop before the first drop was complete.
The actress told the outlet that the production schedule caused things to be a bit complicated since we still weren’t sure how the season was going to turn out, as well as [creator] Darren [Star], even as a cast.” The film was filmed as we were heading towards something, but there would always be new dramas to resolve. As the characters were navigating this, we were doing the same. As we are filming the season, we don’t always know the trajectory, so this makes it even more interesting for us, as well as keeps us on our toes.”
As a result, the scene would be divided into two drops when filming, which was an additional challenge for us, but it was also an exciting opportunity to put emphasis on the impact of the decisions being made during filming,” Collins explained.
Whenever you play those roles, you can be more aware of the fact that you will soon find yourself in circumstances that will cause things to shift. As a result, you can also play into those circumstances more, so the characters can be convinced as much of their decisions as they actually believe them until they are confronted with something else, like, “Wait, what?” It makes it so much more fun.”
