The Pakistan cricket team is thrashed by Afghanistan by 8 wickets. Afghanistan downed Pakistan by eight wickets on Monday at the Chennai International Cricket Stadium, courtesy of powerful batting from openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran.

As a result of the Afghan victory, their first ever win against the Men in Green in an ODI match is now 7-1, thus making them the second biggest surprise of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. They sent Pakistan tumbling to an eight-wicket defeat on Monday, sending Pakistan crashing in an ODI match for the first time in their history.

The Afghan team managed to reach their target with six balls to spare after chasing 283 to win thanks to the innings of Ibrahim Zadran (87), Rahmat Shah (77 not out), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65) and their skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi (48 not out) who all reached their target with six balls to spare.

There have now been two wins and three losses from each of Afghanistan and Pakistan’s five games during the group stage of the tournament. Afghanistan stunned the defending champions England earlier in the competition.
