A new feature has been added to the Meta-owned chatting platform WhatsApp as the company continues to roll out updates to the app, and one of the most recent improvements to the app is the introduction of video tools.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is reportedly offering the capability of skipping forwards and backwards in a video, this time around.
It has been announced that the latest version update for Android, version 2.23.24.6, will provide users with more convenience and time savings when it comes to watching longer videos shared on the app.
According to the WhatsApp news tracker, users have been requesting new tools for various purposes over the past few years, including the ability to have a better control over playing videos. It appears that this feedback has played a pivotal part in the development of the new feature,” it said.
It will be easier for users to navigate within videos they receive or send by utilizing this feature, especially when they receive or send long videos. Users will not have to drag their play heads back and forth in order to reach the point in a clip in which they need to navigate.
Using the left or right side of the screen, you can now use a double-tap to skip forward and backward through videos.
The progress bar will no longer be activated when you are skipping or rewinding a video, which means you will no longer have to use it to watch something you may have missed.
In other words, this feature operates in a similar manner to how it operates on YouTube, so users who are already familiar with using YouTube’s video-sharing platform will find it familiar and intuitive, according to WABetainfo.
Aside from saving time, this feature also makes navigation easier since users have the option to rewind to revisit a particular moment and fast forward to skip past less relevant sections of the content, as per the article, it not only saves time but also enhances the user experience.
As the feature rolls out over the next couple of weeks, it will become available to an even greater number of users.
