As the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted, Karachi received light to heavy rain on Friday with more rains expected over the weekend, as the weather witnessed a visible shift and saw light to heavy rain being dropped on the city.
The II Chundrigar Road, Sarjani Town, Malir, North Karachi, Korangi Industrial Area, Orangi Town, Baldia Town, and the Manghopir Northern Bypass have all received heavy rainfall so far on Friday, and among the areas that have endured heavy showers are the II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Sarjani Town, Malir, and North Karachi.
The Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC), in order to ensure the residents of the city are not inconvenienced in the midst of the downpour, has posted a message about the steps being taken by the city’s Mayor Murtaza Wahab.
“In addition to the pumps, 53 of the suction vehicles have been placed at various locations for the purpose of clearing rainwater when and where it is needed,” he wrote on X, previously known as Twitter.
Besides traffic police, the mayor of the city also said that wardens have also been placed on major arterials to help ease traffic flow on those roads, in addition to traffic police.
At the Jinnah International Airport in the port city, flight operations were disrupted due to torrential rains in the city. It has been reported that Islamabad-bound flight PK-368 has been delayed by more than an hour as a result of bad weather.
