During the upcoming season 9 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Quetta Gladiators have traded Iftikhar Ahmed to the Multan Sultans as a replacement for Rilee Rossouw, one of the most anticipated trade deals in the history of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
As part of confirming the trade, the Sultans said in a statement that they were also going to get the first pick in the platinum round as well as the first pick in the Silver category under the deal.
I am delighted to be a Sultan and represent the Multan fans who have an outstanding passion for our beloved game, and I will be there to support and defend you,” he said while referring to the moniker adopted by him. Iftikhar further added that he was pleased to become a Sultan and represent the Multan fans, their “passion for this game is second to none.
The Multan Sultans have evolved over the last three seasons into a strong and well-experienced team, and the team’s record over that time speaks for itself. In the coming years, it is my ambition to assist them in capturing the prestigious PSL trophy,” said Iftikhar in a statement.
Mohammad Rizwan, the skipper of Multan Cricket Team, was delighted to welcome this player who he believes brings “amazing skills in all areas” to the team.
We decided to finalise this trade for a number of reasons, including his incredible skills on the field, but he is also a brilliant team player who is always bringing positive vibes into the dressing rooms with his presence. It is extremely important for us to assemble a set of players whose skills are in sync with our distinctive brand of positive, bold and aggressive cricket that we play,” Rizwan said.
In addition to the fact that Rossouw will be returning to the PSL franchise from which he made his debut, the deal also means that the player will be coming home.
This is the second trade that has been confirmed ahead of the draft on December 13 that is scheduled to take place in the PSL.
It was only a day ago that the Karachi Kings exchanged Imad Wasim for Hassan Ali from Islamabad United.
Wasim has been taken under the Platinum category by United, after he guided Karachi to their maiden PSL title in the fifth edition.
As for Hassan, he will play for Karachi Kings under the Diamond category in the upcoming season, while he represented Islamabad in the last season.
In an official statement, the Pakistan Super League confirmed that Karachi Kings has received Islamabad United’s first-round silver pick in exchange for their second-round silver pick as a result of this player trade.
