Her simple 10-word statement wasn’t shy about serving up a reality check to the men in the room.
Among the guests on The Graham Norton Show were Eddie Redmayne, Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington.
A bit more than a year ago, Redmayne, 42, was training for his role as an assassin in The Day of the Jackal when he learned something interesting.
The speaker shared with the audience that he was taught how to use his cellphone as a weapon in a dangerous situation.
A lighthearted Mescal, 28, responded to the host’s remarks. In response, the actor gestured as if he were pulling out his phone before answering his question with, “Who is actually going to consider that? If someone actually attacked me, I’m not going to call the police.”
“I can handle this, Norton” he kept saying, as he pretended to be in a dangerous situation, joking along with him, “Can you hold on a minute?””
“That’s what girls think about all the time,” Ronan said, interrupting the pedantic banter between the men.
In response to the crowd’s questions, the Ladybird actress asked, “Am I right, ladies?” The applause was thunderous.
She was applauded on social media for her words after the video clip went viral.
An X (formerly Twitter) user said, “Saoirse Ronan gagged men, we love it.”.
One person said, “It’s almost terrifying to think that these nice guys can be so unaware of what’s going on.“. It’s good that Saoirse is raising awareness about this issue because it is something we all need to be aware of.
At the late night show, Ronan was promoting her upcoming war drama film, Blitz, which is scheduled to release in the coming months.
As a World War II backdrop plays the backdrop, the actress plays a single mother desperate to find her missing nine-year-old son George.
On November 1st, the film will be released in theaters.
