Several terrorist incidents took place in Dera Ismail Khan district on December 11-12 night, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Tuesday.

IBOs in Darazinda and Kulachi

An intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in the general area of Darazinda in response to reports of terrorist activity. According to the ISPR, 17 terrorists were sent to hell during the operation, which busted hideouts of terrorists.

The troops successfully engaged terrorists’ location in another IBO in the general area of Kulachi of the district. This resulted in the death of four terrorists.

ISPR stated that after an intense exchange of fire, two brave sons of the soil, having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom.

It was reported that the terrorists killed were involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces as well as killing innocent civilians.

During the operations, weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered.

Suicide attack in Daraban

Separately, as reported by the ISPR, six terrorists attacked a security force post in the general area of Daraban in DI Khan in the early hours of December 12.

According to military media, the attempt to enter the post was effectively thwarted, forcing the terrorists to ram an explosive-laden vehicle into the post, which was followed by a suicide bombing.

The blasts caused the building to collapse, resulting in multiple casualties. Twenty-three brave soldiers embraced Shahadat, while all six terrorists were effectively engaged and sent to hell.

As the security forces of Pakistan are determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country, sanitization operations are being conducted to eradicate any other terrorists present in the area, and such sacrifices by our brave soldiers strengthen our resolve, read the statement.

In KP, 470 people were killed in 1,050 terror attacks

In the past year, terror-related incidents have been on the rise in the country as a whole. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular, 470 security personnel and civilians have been killed.

In one year alone, 470 people were killed in 1,050 terror-related incidents, according to Geo News data.

In the past three years, 698 security personnel and citizens have been killed in 1,823 terror-related incidents, according to the provincial home department and tribal affairs.

A total of seven areas along the Pak-Afghan border in KP remained “terrorism hotspots” during the past year. Peshawar, Khyber, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, and Tank are among the affected areas.
