THE LONDON TIMES:
*NSYNC drop first new song together in 20 years. The award-winning band NSYNC, one of the most successful acts of the late 1990s, released the first new music they have released as a unit in 20 years on Friday, a song that features in the animated movie Trolls Band Together, one of their biggest hits. The song Better Place is the first new song by Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass that they have worked on together since the U.S. boy band released their last studio album Celebrity in 2001.
A video that Timberlake shared, showing the quintet working on the song in the recording studio, was shared by Timberlake, who voices the character Branch in the Trolls film franchise. In addition, the singer, who topped the charts with her single Can’t Stop The Feeling! that was featured on the soundtrack of the 2016 movie Trolls, is an executive producer and has written and performed new music for the soundtrack of Trolls Band Together, which is set for release next month.
Bass, in a post on Instagram, described Better Place as a “love letter to all of the fans who have been incredibly supportive of us since the beginning”. It is because of you guys that we have been able to make it through everything, even when our fashion choices were, well, let’s just say “unique,”,” he wrote just ahead of the release of the song.” He also wrote that “you guys have always thought that this would happen again, even when it didn’t.”
Adding to the message, Bass said that the song was a testament to the bond between them and he was grateful for the journey they had been on and the journey they would continue on. The band was founded in 1995 in Orlando, Florida, and it has won legions of fans for its songs like I Want You Back, Tearin’ Up My Heart, and Bye Bye Bye Bye.
After going on hiatus in 2002, the group disbanded in 2004, with Timberlake pursuing his solo career, which has been very successful. It was at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) that the band performed together for the last time on stage as a band. A couple of weeks back, they reunited again at the same awards ceremony, where they presented music star Taylor Swift with the award for Best Pop Artist.
