Nawaz is called the ‘ladla’ of the masses by Maryam

In response to allegations that her father and party supremo, Nawaz Sharif, had been favoured by her father, the chief organizer of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Maryam Nawaz Wednesday called him ‘the blue-eyed boy of the people’.

In a speech to a political gathering at Nakana Sahib, Maryam said, “The rumor is that Nawaz is a ladla, which is true, but he is a ladla of the masses and that is what he represents”, as the party tries to woo its supporters in advance of the elections.

Despite the fact that the remarks did not explicitly name anyone, the remarks seem to be in reference to Bilawal Bhutto, the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), who has in the past, on various occasions, accused Nawaz and his party of relying on something other than the people of Pakistan in order to secure their fourth term as prime minister.

Since the PPP chairman has been leading the party’s election campaign with a fiery speech, there has been an increasing number of verbal spats between the two parties in recent days, during which he has taken a number of shots at the Nawaz-led party.

Today, at a rally held by the Pakistan Muslim League (N), the PML-N’s senior vice president, while not naming names, dismissed allegations that her father conspired against Imran Khan’s then Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government as well as the former PTI government of Nawaz Sharif.

“Nawaz didn’t oust you, as you shot yourself in the foot a long time ago…” Maryam replied, adding that the party was destroyed by you.

In an interview with a leading newspaper, the PML-N’s chief organiser said that the party’s priorities will not be to fight with any other political party during the elections, but instead to fight against soaring inflation and exorbitant electricity bills if it is elected to power.

In a statement recalling her father’s ouster from office by embarrassment, she said that the former prime minister had been removed through a conspiracy, rigging, and foul play.

When she lamented about the repeated oustings of the party supremo from the office she added, “Give Nawaz a chance to serve”, she urged.
