Naseem Shah fined by PCB for abusing ‘ground equipment’, A fine of 10% of Naseem Shah’s match fee has been imposed on him for breaching the Code of Conduct in a match played on Sunday against Multan Sultans, which is part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9. Shah is playing for Islamabad United in the PSL season 9.
In a statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), it was stated that Naseem was fined 10% of the match prize “for a breach at level 1 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel in the Pakistan Super League”.
Naseem, 21, was charged with violating Article 2.2 of the Cricket Equipment or Clothing Act, which deals with abuse of equipment or clothing that is used while playing cricket, and equipment or fixtures used at the ground.
According to the statement, Naseem was caught by Naseem when he kicked his stumps after the last ball of Multan Sultan’s innings.
The pacer entered a plea of guilty and accepted the punishment proposed by match referee Roshan Mahanama. Hence, there was no need for a formal hearing after the pacer accepted the punishment proposed by the match referee.
On the field, umpires Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Muhammad Asif imposed the charge because they felt the players had violated the code of conduct.
The Sultans have been fined for slow overrates
As a result of Multan Sultans’ slow over-rate during the same match, they received a fine of Rs. 80,000 as well.
According to match referee Mahanama, Multan Sultans were one over short of their goal when it came to their match against Tashkent. Taking time allowances into account before making a decision, the referee made sure to take the time allowance into consideration.
Consequently, each player was fined 10% of his match fee in accordance with Article 2.22 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which regulates the conduct of players and their support staff.
