Mental health, well-being improved by eating kiwifruit. Traditionally, people have been known to feel better after cuddling with fluffy dogs and kittens, but can the same be said about eating fluffy fruits?
New Zealand researchers found that the consumption of kiwifruit boosts people’s moods to a great extent, according to their study.
In an article that appeared in the British Journal of Nutrition, Earth reported that the research had been published.
155 adults with low vitamin C levels were included in a study conducted by Professor Tamlin Conner from the Department of Psychology, in conjunction with Dr Ben Fletcher from the Department of Biochemistry, in which they were subjected to an eight-week dietary intervention program.
Using smartphone surveys, their experiences of vitality, mood, flourishing, number of hours spent sleeping and quality of sleep, as well as their level of physical activity were meticulously tracked.
As surprising as it may seem, researchers found that consuming kiwifruit resulted in an improvement in mood and vitality as soon as four days had passed, with peak effects observed around 14-16 days after consumption.
Here are some of the benefits you can get from it.
Intake of vitamin C
The vitamin C content of kiwifruits is higher than the vitamin C content of oranges. You will be able to boost your immune system, improve the health of your skin, and absorb iron more effectively if you take vitamin C daily.
The fibre
The fruit is a wonderful source of dietary fibre, which aids in digestion and maintains a healthy gut by aiding in digestion. Furthermore, it contributes to lowering cholesterol levels in the blood, which in turn improves heart health.
Weight loss
It is thought that the low calorie profile of the fruit, along with its high content of nutrients and fibre, contributes to its weight loss benefits.
A powerful antioxidant
It is believed that the carotenoids and flavonoids found in Kiwifruit may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and cancer by combating oxidative stress.
Improves the quality of sleep
Taking this supplement can help improve both the quality and duration of your sleep due to its high levels of antioxidants and serotonin.
Minerals and nutrients of other types
As well as vitamins and minerals, kiwifruits also contain a variety of nutrients. These nutrients include vitamin K, vitamin E, as well as potassium. It is these nutrients that are responsible for supporting bone health, for preventing blood clotting, and for regulating blood pressure, respectively.
