Jolie ‘annoyed’ by ‘Maria’ mixed reviews

In her most recent directorial endeavors, Angelina Jolie has been left feeling mixed emotions.

According to an insider close to Jolie’s team, the actress is having difficulty reconciling the success of her biopic Maria with Without Blood’s lackluster reception.

It’s a little aggravating for Angelina to have to juggle Maria’s success and Without Blood, the source reveals.

The lingering horrors of surviving violence are explored in Without Blood, an adaption of Alessandro Baricco’s novel. Although Jolie has been a humanitarian and had previously won awards for In the Land of Blood and Honey and First They Killed My Father, this film failed to impress critics.

According to Radheyan Simonpillai of The Guardian, the film leaves its mismatched stars “flailing with words, anecdotes, and tedious and abstract conversations that seem to be searching for meaning.”

As a contrast, Jolie’s biopic Maria about opera legend Maria Callas is generating Oscar buzz. Despite some criticism, the actress has been praised for her performance in the role.

“With both films getting closer to being seen by the general public,” the insider continues, “Angelina will have to tread lightly here, especially since directing has always been her plan to stay in the business as she gets older.”

She remains passionate about directing. There is no question that she wants to direct more movies, and she has assembled a team around her to make these movies.

Without Blood is unlikely to be a commercial success, however. Nonetheless, without Blood is not expected to make any money.

The collaboration between Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek Pinault, the star of Without Blood, continues to flourish. According to a second source, Angelina and Salma have been working together continuously since they shot Eternals together almost six years ago.

Timenews1 published that news.
