In Tulkarem, what is Israel doing to Palestinians?, On Thursday, Israeli forces executed a drone strike in a settlement and refugee camp in the occupied West Bank known as Tulkarem, killing three Palestinians and injuring many others.
Israeli troops clashed with fighters from the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, during what happened in the Tulkarem refugee camp just before dawn, during which it is believed Israeli troops fired upon fighters who belonged to the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.
During the raid, what exactly happened?
As reported in news reports, Israeli soldiers have been stationed on roofs, and bulldozers have been sent into the camp to destroy large residential areas, in order to destroy the camp.
In addition, Israel was reportedly accused of setting fire to people’s homes and preventing local relief workers from extinguishing the fires.
According to international experts, Israel’s tactics during its raids seem to be part of a broader doctrine of collective punishment of the population, ostensibly because pockets of armed resistance are retaliating against Israel’s ever-entrenching occupation, a claim that is denied by Israel’s officials.
A refugee camp is being attacked by Israel?
It is claimed by Israel that it is conducting counter-terrorism operations as part of its military operations.
In the camps, are there any ‘terrorists’?
It has previously been reported by activists and experts that Israel is using the threat of “terrorism” as a means of justifying the mass displacement of Palestinians and the expansion of illegal settlements, which has been widely condemned by human rights activists.
In most refugee camps across the West Bank, you will find Palestinian fighters who have loose ties to Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), or Fatah, but are not necessarily affiliated with them.
According to the fighters, they are trying to protect their camps and cities from Israeli raids that aim to uproot civilians from their homes and lands as a result of the occupation by Israel.
Israel says the raids are for arresting individuals?
According to Shadi Abdullah, a Palestinian activist who has documented violations by Israel in Tulkarem, Israeli troops are using bulldozers to destroy homes, infrastructure, and basic necessities of life to cause hardship for the local population.
Moreover, according to him, Israeli security forces cooperate with and support Israelis from illegal settlements when it comes to attacking civilians in those settlements.
According to him, Tulkarem lies between several settlements, which means that it is constantly under attack from both the settlers and the occupation forces, which creates an atmosphere of fear among residents.
Whether there are resistance fighters or not, “Israel is determined to take our land regardless of whether there are resistance fighters or not,” Abdullah said.
Tulkarem: Why is it so special?
It is believed that the abundance of natural water in Tulkarem makes the area a fertile agricultural area, according to activists and rights groups.
In spite of this, Israeli settlements set up over the past few years have caused Palestinian farmers and residents to have to rely on costly tankers for water and rainwater collection systems in order to survive, since the settlers have used up all of the water resources on their land.
It was further said by Abdullah that the population density in Tulkarem and the refugee camp is quite high due to the forced displacement of Palestinians from the surrounding areas, which has led to the increase of population density.
As a result of the destruction of residential areas in raids and the subsequent displacement of people into safer communities, the population density in the previously devastated areas rises even further.
What is Israel’s method for raiding?
The Israelis have in the past sent forces disguised as Palestinians to do reconnaissance on a camp before they approved a raid on that camp.
It will be followed by a massive destruction of schools, hospitals, homes, and other buildings in the camps by Israeli troops with bulldozers. A heavy armored machine is often accompanied by a drone or helicopter which provides air cover for the heavily armoured machines.
A substantial part of Israeli raids is played by drones, such as those used in the strike that killed three Palestinians on Thursday. Drones, in particular, play a substantial part in these raids.
Israel used drones to kill 11 Palestinians earlier this month in Jenin, another West Bank city where Palestinian armed resistance has become more pronounced in recent years as the conflict between Israel and Palestine intensifies.
There was also a drone attack on the Nur Shams camp in the Gaza Strip on July 3, which resulted in the death of four Palestinians.
This is part of a larger attempt by the Israeli government to scare a younger generation of Palestinians from becoming involved in armed resistance through the use of such weapons, says Abdullah.
It is possible that Israel is also trying to push the inhabitants of the camps into blaming resistance fighters for the destruction of their camps, according to the professor.
It seems that Abdullah’s tactic isn’t working, as he says it isn’t effective.
In his view, there is no difference between the people who are civilians and the people who are armed fighters. The fact that we all participate in resistance does not mean that we do it in the same way. In the eyes of the civilians, fighters should not stop fighting. As a matter of fact, they want nothing more than the Israeli occupation to end.”
