World’s top vehicle exporter: On Wednesday, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) released data that indicated that China surpassed Japan as the world’s largest exporter of vehicles at the end of last year.

According to AFP, the recent boom in the Chinese auto sector is largely due to the huge investments that have been made in electric vehicles, an area where Japanese companies have been more cautious.

The Japan Automotive Manufacturers Association (JAMA) reported that, in 2023, 4.42 million automobiles were exported from Japan.

According to figures provided by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China exported 4.91 million automobiles to foreign markets at the end of last month.

In Chinese customs, one in three of the vehicles was completely electric, indicating that a staggering 57% increase from the previous year has resulted in this figure being even higher at 5.22 million.

The results of the figures released on Wednesday have verified that not only did China export more cars per month than Japan, but it was also the leader for an entire year as well, according to the figures.

In contrast to their Chinese competitors, Japanese manufacturers like Toyota also produce a large number of cars overseas, thereby giving them the edge over their Chinese counterparts. Toyota, which was recently reaffirmed as the world’s largest company based on unit sales, also produces a large number of cars abroad.

In the year 2022, Japan produced a total of 7.84 million vehicles, excluding motorbikes, with approximately 17 million vehicles produced abroad and a total of 7.84 million vehicles produced within the country.

It is no secret that the Japanese auto industry has long sought to make as much money as possible on hybrid vehicles, which combine internal combustion engines and batteries, instead of making pure electric vehicles. Among the many hybrid vehicles that Toyota pioneered is the Prius, which is one example of the company’s pioneering work.
