In spite of Israeli strikes on Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei insists that Hezbollah still stands strong.
On Wednesday, Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei said Hezbollah would survive despite Israel’s strikes on the Shia militia for a third day in a row.
According to Khamenei, “some of Hezbollah’s most effective and valuable forces were martyred, which undoubtedly caused damage, but nowhere near enough to bring the group to its knees.”
Even if a senior commander has been killed, Hezbollah’s organizational strength and human resources are strong, the Iranian leader noted.
At the end, he announced that “Palestinian and Lebanese resistance will prevail in the end”.
De-escalation is not an option
Over the border between Lebanon and Israel, Hezbollah and Israel’s military have exchanged fire almost daily since the Gaza war began.
An explosive series of coordinated attacks last week caused electronic devices used by Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria to explode, escalating the violence between the two groups.
It is widely believed that Israel was responsible for the remotely triggered sabotage, which claimed the lives of 39 people and injured almost 3,000 others. It was called a dangerous turn in cyberwarfare by analysts.
A third day of Israeli bombing of Lebanon was carried out on Wednesday. Earlier this week, at least 558 people were killed in air raids, the deadliest wave of violence in Lebanon since the 1975-1990 civil war, which also caused tens of thousands of Lebanese to flee the south.
The latest wave of violence has led to the deaths of several senior Hezbollah figures, including Ibrahim Aqil and Ibrahim Muhammad Qubaisi, both of whom held senior positions.
The Israeli military described Hezbollah’s strike as an unprecedented attack on Israel’s Mossad headquarters near Tel Aviv in retaliation.
The Israel-Hezbollah attacks appear set to intensify, Marjayoun in southern Lebanon.
“De-escalation is not taking place. There is no diplomacy going on. His report stated that the Israeli army and Hezbollah were engaged in a shooting war.
The Israeli army says it continues to strike targets associated with Hezbollah. In fact, Hezbollah is ramping things up a bit and launching more rocket attacks than we’ve seen in the past 24 hours.”
