Hasan Ali joins Pak vs NZ: ODI milestone is achieved. As a part of today’s match against New Zealand, Pakistan fast bowler Hassan Ali collected his 100th wicket during his career in one-day internationals (ODIs). The match was played at the M. A. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which is located in the Indian state of Karnataka.
A pacer with six of the fastest ODI scores in history, the Pakistani cricketer has become only the sixth Pakistani player to achieve the feat in his 66-match career.
After dismissing Kiwi opener Devon Conway, who scored 35 runs in 39 balls over the course of the match, the fast bowler claimed the 100th wicket in ODI cricket.
Right-armer Usama Mir was replaced by the right-armer for today’s match, leading to the right-armer being given an opportunity to get some experience in the game.
In the ICC World Cup 2023 clash against New Zealand, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field, which was a timely decision as Williamson returned to action after having been out with a thumb injury.
It was only a few days before the tournament that Williamson was recovering from surgery on his knee, therefore he was playing in the match against Bangladesh in Chennai on October 13 when he fractured his thumb and then had to miss the remainder of the series.
In the one-wicket defeat against South Africa earlier this month, Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan went down with concussion and is still not available for selection.
As well as Williamson, New Zealand has selected spinner Ish Sodhi to replace injured seamer Matt Henry, Will Young has replaced Warwick Young as skipper and Mark Chapman has been named as the replacement for James Neesham.
It is important to note that New Zealand are currently ranked fourth in the 10-team table with eight points, after four wins and three defeats in their opening four matches.
In order for Pakistan to remain in contention for a place in the semi-final, they must win in order to secure six points.
