Acting ended up feeling like just a job for Dylan Minnette

Earlier this year, Dylan Minnette revealed that he would be taking a temporary break from acting in order to pursue his musical career.

During an interview on the Zach Sang Show, he shared that despite his success with the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, acting started to feel more like a job than a way to express his creativity for him, as he explored his role on the show.

Minnette stated that she was fortunate to be able to find success in acting. 

I definitely consider being on 13 Reasons Why to be one of the peaks of my professional career because it was an incredible experience. 

Over the course of time, it became more and more apparent to me that this was just a job. It was always fun and inspiring for me, but as time went on, that spark began to fade away, even though I was in a very fortunate position.”

His creative energy is now being channeled into his band, Wallows, and he is enjoying the freedom to explore his abilities as a musician in a safe environment. 

His plans to return to acting aren’t out of the question, but for now, he is enjoying the thrill of being a musician and relishing the experience.

As he explained, he felt that he was in the position now to be able to do that for a while and get this as far as it can possibly go, and hopefully that will be the outcome. 

There’s only one way that’s going to happen, and that’s if I dedicate my entire attention, energy, and time to it, showing the world that we’re taking this very seriously, to demonstrate that this is something that we’re all committed to.”

In my opinion, I do feel that I have something to contribute to the world, and that’s probably acting. I feel like I’m becoming inspired again by acting.”

After Wallows’ musical aspirations have been fulfilled and they have decided it is time for a break, Minnette envisions returning to acting and directing. 

As he hinted toward a possible comeback to the screen in the future, he said, “I’ll have the perfect inspiration when that time comes around.”.
