After emerging as the largest party in the province, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan announced on Tuesday that he has recommended Ali Amin Khan Gandapur for the position of chief minister in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This ends days of speculation about who the party will nominate as its nominee.
While talking to journalists at a jail in Adiala today, PTI founder Shahbaz Sharif made this revelation.
The PTI-backed candidates in the KP Assembly have emerged as the largest group of the National Assembly, with over 90 seats at the end of the election, followed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with 75 seats. This puts Khan in pole position to form the government when it comes to elections in the National Assembly.
This comment came at a time when a coalition of major political parties is mulling over the best way to form a government in the centre based on a power-sharing formula.
Asked about the possibility of forming an alliance with PML-N, PPP, or MQM-P, the PTI leader ruled out any alliance. He said, as a matter of fact, that he has directed the party to hold discussions with other parties aside from these three.
There are major money launderers who are brought in, according to him, and they are the most notorious.
Imran Khan has made his first remarks on the February election in his first remarks, saying that elections help stabilize the economic situation in the country, but he is also warning that last week’s election will bring greater instability to the economy as well.
Having received instructions from Khan regarding the KP chief minister’s appointment, the PTI will issue a notification regarding this issue in the near future, according to sources.
During this period, Khan said that while PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif was postponing his press conference, he knew that the party had won the elections. There has been a loss in both elections for Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, he commented.
Moreover, he claimed that while Aliya Hamza, the leader of the PTI, was in jail, she received more than 100,000 votes in support of her party.
In response to the question of whether his party would form a government in the province or the center, Khan said that the party would first challenge the election results.
In addition, he informed me that he would approach the Supreme Court in order to challenge the results of the poll.
There has been no agreement on a name for the prime minister’s position among the former premier and the former premier said that they would examine the options.
According to the PTI founder, however, the court would hear the petition which seeks Bushra Bibi’s transfer to the Adiala jail on behalf of the PTI. The Toshakhana case resulted in her being sentenced to a 10 year prison term, while the illegal marriage case resulted in a seven year prison term.
