RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s ruling party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has decided to file a lawsuit against a top American diplomat, Donald Lu, in a US court, following the claims that Lu overthrew Khan’s government, according to the deposed prime minister’s sister, Aleema Khan.
During a press conference that followed a meeting he had with Khan in the prison, Aleema discussed the future strategy of the PTI chief – who remains in jail at Adiala – during which he shared his ideas about the organization.
It was the sister of the PTI chairman who told me that the PTI chairman had threatened to file a lawsuit in US courts if he was not provided with justice by the Pakistani courts, saying that the party believes the US embassy in Pakistan is completely involved in the conspiracies to overthrow Khan’s government.
In her statement Aleema said that the Islamabad High Court had issued a stay order in the cipher case and that clauses which could lead to a death sentence or the sentence of life imprisonment had been added to the case.
There is a need to tell us what crime the chairman of the PTI committed that such clauses were included in the constitution. The sister of the former prime minister, Rana Sanaullah, has registered a case against the chairman of the PTI and we need to get justice in Pakistan,” she said.
In speaking with her sister, she revealed that her brother was doing well and that he had developed a good routine while he had been in prison. Additionally, the PTI chief also informed her that he had not complained about the food that was served to him during the meeting.
As a result of the case involving the cipher, PTI chief Imran Khan and PTI deputy Shah Mahmood Qureshi are currently being held in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
IHC issued a stay order on Khan’s appeal while the case was being heard by a special court but now the PTI chief is being held in solitary confinement as the National Accountability Bureau registered a case against him against him.
As a matter of fact, the cipher controversy began on March 27, 2022, when Imran Khan, who was less than one month before he was ousted in April 2022, waved a letter in front of a crowd when addressing a public rally, claiming that it was a cipher that had been sent by a foreign power that had conspired with his political rivals to overthrow the PTI government.
In this letter, the writer did not reveal the contents nor did he mention the name of the nation from which the letter came. However, just a few days later, he alleged that the United States government had conspired against him and that he had been removed from his position by Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Affairs Donald Lu.
As the cipher goes, it was about an event that took place between Majeed and Lu, the former ambassador of Pakistan to the US.
According to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, he read contents from a cipher when he said that if Imran Khan were removed from power, then Pakistan will be forgiven for everything that has happened.
A National Security Committee (NSC) meeting was held on March 31 and it has been decided to issue a “strong demarche” to the US that is in response to the blatant interference in Pakistani internal affairs by that country’s government.
As a follow-up to his removal, Shehbaz Sharif, the then-prime minister, convened a meeting of the National Security Council, which came to the conclusion that there were no indications in the cable of any foreign conspiracy.
The former prime minister, the then-federal minister Asad Umar, and the then-principal secretary Azam Khan were all believed to be talking about the US cipher and how they could use it for their benefit in the two audio leaks that took the internet by storm and shocked the public after these events.
