It is the first-ever victory that Pakistan women’s cricket team has ever achieved against the White Ferns in any ODI match played on the premises of New Zealand, after the Women in Green defeated the White Ferns by three runs in the Super Over of the third ODI on Monday at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

The victory today has elevated Pakistan to second position in the ICC Women’s Championship after they finished the season with 16 points from 18 matches, putting them on par with India. Before the game, the Girls in Green were placed in sixth place in the standings.

The Green Shirts had earlier set a 12-run target in the super-over courtesy of Aliya Riaz’ heroics with bat, and they managed to defend the target successfully thanks to Sadia Iqbal’s effort, who restricted the New Zealand batsmen to only eight runs in the super-over.

After being set a 252-run target to chase, Pakistan was hit by two early blows, with Muneeba Ali and Sidra Ameen being dismissed for just 37 runs in 7.4 overs in their attempt to save the match.

Bismah Maroof and Aliya Riaz put on a 101-run stand during the first over to put the visitors back into the game after it looked like they would struggle and continue to lose wickets.

As a result of Jess Kerr’s 44 runs, Riaz fell six runs short of a well-deserved half-century as he fell six runs short of his well-deserved half-century. Despite that, Maroof was able to continue to demonstrate her prowess and the left-handed batter contributed 68 runs and five boundaries to her team’s score, for which she was also named the Player of the Match for her efforts.

The quick knock downs of the order by Fatima Sana and Natalia Pervaiz, however, made Pakistan close to hitting the target since they knocked down the order quickly. It was Sana who scored 36 points out of 33 while Natalia had 26 points out of 23.

Najiha Alvi’s valuable contributions at the last wicket helped Pakistan to avoid a whitewash as her valuable contributions at the last wicket helped the visitors to level the game against Pakistan. Pakistan need eight runs off six balls in the last over with just a wicket to spare.

After Amelia Kerr and Maddy Green batted first, New Zealand put together a dominant display with the bat, which helped them to achieve a competitive 252-run target.

Green played an unbeaten knock of 65 runs off 69 deliveries in an effort to score 77 off 87 balls, while Kerr scored 77 off 87 balls with 10 boundaries.

The other two players with the most points in the game were skipper Sophie Devine (29) as well as Suzie Bates (24).

There was a 2-1 win for the White Ferns in the ODI series, part of the ICC Women’s Championship, as part of the series.

Nevertheless, the Pakistan women’s team achieved a remarkable feat during the tour by becoming the first Asian side to win a series against the white Ferns in a T20I format. The Pakistan women defeated the White Ferns by 2-1 in the series.
